Die Bokwagtershuis, “Goat keeper’s house”, was originally built during the 19th century as accommodation for Matjiesvlei’s goat keeper. His task was to tend to all the goats of the different farmers in the valley. The house has been authentically restored to maintain its atmosphere, with addition of modern amenities.

  • In the main bedroom there is a double bed, the second and third bedrooms have 2 single beds each.
  • All linen included.
  • The cottage has an open plan kitchen/dining room/lounge, overlooking the veld and mountains.
  • There is a wood burning closed combustion system for heating in winter and an air conditioner for cooling in summer.
  • This is the ideal entertainment area with a built-in braai and more than enough seating for guests.
  • Braai grids, fire tongs and swartpotjie available.
  • The kitchen is equipped with all the required utensils, including a dishwasher.
  • The washing machine is in the kitchen.
  • The one bathroom has a shower, the other has a shower as well as a bath.
  • Hot water is provided by electrical geysers.
  • On hot summer days you can cool off in the nearby farm dam.
  • The entrance to our private picnic spot at the river is opposite the Skuur.
  • The cottage has security screens in front of all windows and doors.
  • Free WiFi access in the cottage.
